The idea of 'power-switch' is not NEW. I forgot which brand of ski binding had a 3-way power-switch years ago, and I had a pair. But Volkl is the first one that has a power-switch on the skis.
K2 bought out Volkl a few years back. The ski manufacturers have been consolidating. Below is who owns what:
Amer Sports Group:
Atomic
Dynamic
Salomon
Volant
K2, Inc. :
K2
Line
Marker
Olin
Völkl
Rossignol (Quicksilver subsidiary):
Dynastar
Lange
Rossignol
Roxy
Tecnica:
Blizzard
Dolomite
Nordica
Tecnica
Independent:
4FRNT
Armada
Elan
Fischer
Goode
Head (distributes Palmer)
Line
Stöckli

Rossignol (Quicksilver subsidiary):
Dynastar
Lange
Rossignol

Quicksilver is selling the Rossignol / Dynastar / Lange division.

Rossignol had already bought back its shares from Quicksilver.

You must be skiing for quite some time because the one I had was many many years ago (but I do not believe mine was Marker binding), and your knowledge of the ski manufacturing industry.
Since you did not post anything on public profile, tell us a bit about yourself such as how long you have been skiing and where you are etc.
Rossignol had already bought back its shares from Quicksilver.
Quiksilver bought Rossignol three years ago for 360 million euros (US$560.8 million).
Latest I heard (last month) was that Rossignol is to be acquired by Dalbello.
Report that Dalbello would use Rossi to give it ski and binding brands to go with ski boots it already selling. No word on fate of other brands (Dynastar, Lange, etc.).
Also, Cycle group Look International have also expressed an interest in buying Rossignol back in March.
So, if Rossi has already bought back its share, what about Lange and Dynastar?

I still have the Marker bindings with me, I bought it a decade ago, with selective control" soft-medium-stiff" power switch. As for its history of invention and production, can easily click & browse its website http://www.markerusa.com/about.php
The one you had probably was Tyrolia brand, ceased the production of this system many years ago, now they go with HEAD.

One of the Italian brands is acquiring Lange, under negotiation, should soon be announced in the coming Winter season...........
As for Dynastar.. normally it is an obstacle during negotiation.
Just simply like: Coca Cola and Sprite
Quiksilver has confirmed that it will be selling its Rossignol brand of ski goods.
In its second quarter financial statement last week, it announced that the sale will include the Rossignol, Dynastar, Lange, Look and Kerma brands of ski equipment and ski wear.
Quiksilver has now classified its Rossignol Group winter sports equipment and apparel business as discontinued operations pending the sale.

Just announced last Friday that due to the current economic and winter sports market conditions, the Rossignol Group, which makes skis, ski boots, bindings and skiwear under the Rossignol, Lange and Dynastar brand names, announced a 30% reduction in its global and North American work force.
Rossignol Group's was acquired by Chartreusse and Mont Blanc from former parent Quiksilver. The Group plan to further distinguish between Dynastar, Lange and Rossignol by offering fewer products within each brand.
