Going to Japan soon and heard friends said some travel insurance may not paid full if flight delay etcetc. She suggested one but cost $300 for 6 days............wanna to see which travel insurance members use and any experience of claiming.

Many Thanks!

I use HSBC, if you buy it via internet banking, 25% discount will be given.

Agree! Also, pls buy earlier cos under certain conditions if your trip is cancelled you can get full refund.

For skiing, snowboarding alike, personal liability coverage is one thing which attracts my attention most!

i use blue cross cos they cover flights delay due to weather. pls ensure you travel with the same airline if you need transfer. last time i flew cx and then jal to hokkaido, there was a snow storm in hokkaido when i returned, airport was closed so i couldnt' catch that plane. but the plane from tokyo to hkg with cx is on time, i couldn't take that one since i couldn't leave hokkaido. cx refused to let me catch another plane. took me lots of trouble to fight for paying minimal to get another ticket.

Do not buy bank insurance.
I heard that if things happen, their service is very slow.

I always buy blue cross, they paid very fast if claim.

I always buy the travel insurance from HSBC as I am its customer and it costs cheaper.
But bad comment of its emergency call service from KTS escort guide as his past experience.

He also recommend blue cross.

As I understand, HSBC, Cigna, etc. they are merely an Agent, they are not the insurers. So, you can get Blue Cross cover elsewhere, not limited to HSBC.

I buy fm DaoHeng Insurance. It says it is the real insurance company but not agent, so the claim is faster and decisive.

If buy fm HS or HSBC, they are only agents and cases will need to be passed to insurance company, back and forth so take times.

I use Liberty International - better benefits than other insurance companies, cheaper, and they have paid out when I needed them. I use an online agent (a company I own) pay online etc....

I bought travel insurance from my insurance agent from Prudential. Although travel insurance from Blue Cross is relatively cheaper, Prudential coverage is better. As skiing and snowboarding involve certain level of risk, I personally perfer one offers higher coverage for medical expenses.
I wasn't able to claim my medical expenses in full from Blue Cross when I was terribly sick in Japan last time. :(
Guess the gd thing abt buying travel insurance from a gd agent is that he/she will give you advice when doing claims so that you can have your expenses claimed as much as possible.
