Jiayu Liu of China grabbed the Women's Halfpipe gold at the 2009 FIS Snowboard World Championships Gangwon last Friday. Both titles were the first for Asia in the eight-year history of the World Championships.
Liu nailed it in the second run of the ladies final after she had bailed on her first. With 43.5 points, the Chinese star beat Holly Crawford (AUS, 39.6) and Paulina Ligocki (POL, 38.5) to the second and third ranks, respectively.
