Unlike the old days, cars are not designed to last (otherwise no one buy new cars and car manufacturers go bust). You will be lucky to buy a car that will last 6 years!

Assuming an average motorist (in Europe) does 10,000 miles (16,000km) per year, and tires generally will good for 25,000 miles (under normal driving), you will need new tires every couple of years.

Scary news!

Last year I encountered two tire puncture accidents. Both cases were serious enough to end the tire's life. In merely 12 month's time, I had all 4 tires replaced. Bad luck...

My car mechanics told me all new tires installed are NEW. I think I better follow the procedure suggested in the video to check if this is really the case...

All the plastic product should have their on-shelf life or material life even though you don't use it. This life will be affected by the environment too. Not even the tire of car, your ski boot also, don't use a ski boots too long, it also will broken up. :D:D

I think choose a new model may be an alternative choice that no need to check up. :p

Does anyone has any comments on tyre made in China?

I got four new tyres that made in China about six months ago due to budget consideration. The price was only one half of other famous brands...Still need to see if they are durable...but don't have any performance issue so far.

Personally, I will stay away from those Chinese made tyres, especially if one is driving a high performance car.

My replacement tires bought in 2007 are actually 2005 & 2006 product.

I guess it is fair enough compared with canned-food in local supermarket. ;)

I didn't buy them myself. My car mechanics took care everything for me. I trusted him and paid the bill.

I will pay more attention next time when I need to get a new tire. Not about get cheated, but really it is the safety that bothers me.

I buy a lot of tires fron Costco, they are not going to sell staled tires. Normally, I have to wait on line for about 4 hours to get tires installed.
