Perahps sickness has nothing to do with it.

Ordering from retailers in the UK for exporting is not subject to value added tax. This is the same as in the sales tax exemption in the US for exports. I believe this tax exemption is applicable across the EU. Prices in the UK already included 17.5% VAT.

Shipping cost will be applicable to exports from the USA or the EU.

He is not sick. It is not necessarily more expensive than USA if you know where to buy.
There is no tax (VAT) if ships overseas. Just shop around, compare the prices, you might be surprised. :)
