Found it on uTube. It is about a beginner taking 6 days of lessons. Quite interesting if you are also a beginner.

Hmm.. i don't think it is that much an adv, maybe the first one has more about the ski school and such. Skip the first one.
Its about telling ppl to come out to WL, cause the ski school can teach some beautiful lady who hates speed, sport and injury to become a skier in 7 days. Its a very smart advertising, soft, but powerful.

impressive:)
Jack, don't be so negative. Some one put the money in, made a TV show, and some one watch it. For people in China, where-else could they go instead of that few a ski resort up north.
And even it is an adv to start with, it is still a positive message for absolute beginner about how he/she could learn and enjoy skiing with a few days.
I think this kind of private ski lesson is good for some beginners. The suggested drills may also help some skiers for further improvement :). However, I don't know why the instructor is a westerner? Whether westerner is more convincing?
In the last video, the instructor demonstrates his short turns starting from the time 06:41. I don't know his technique is good or bad?

i personally believe that was an ad .. an old ad ..
i never notice they have western/foreign instructor(s) at wanlong ..
at least i never c one so far ..
maybe the student "bring-her-own" instructor !?!? :D

Well for one thing, they may not have really qualified instructor there.
This instructor is French, and judging from his look, he is quite 'old'. And the technique he is teaching is basically 'old school'.
And what he did starting from the time 06:41 is certainly not elegant looking turns :)

Private lesson should be good for all levels, this video is just to show the beginner lesson. Its "stars" are a TV anchor and perhaps an old ski school director from France. If you were to take a 6 days lesson like that it will cost a lot of money in France, perhaps 10,000USD including transportaion, lodging, food, lifts and instructions, with that kind of money, you should learn some thing. However, certain parts of skiing techniques are easy to forget, so you need lots of snow time after the lesson to reinforce the techniques and that costs.
The last few seconds of the VD shows the instructor's short turn capability. I don't know if it is right or not since its on a gentle slope and there is no obsticals in front of him. His ability will show better when its in a slalom race or on a steep icy mogul field.
Sorry if my post caused any bad feeling to readers here. When I watched those on youtube, first thing I noticed was how small and how bad are the slopes at Beijing. It is never a place that I want to promote or even to visit myself, given I'm living in Canada.
After watching this video, it just reminded me how I first learn to ski (although I'm sure they skipped a lot of falling scenes). That's the reason I posted it here. If I don't put the word "萬龍" on the title, maybe it could be better.
I don't want to comment on the instruction, at least it isn't quite CSIA.

everyone knows the conditions of chinese ski resorts cannot compare to those in canada (or japan .. europe) .. but well .. ppl here can't afford to goto canada every wk every mth .. and wanlong happens to be the best around beijing .. no choice lah .. !!!
chinese ski resorts need time to develop to the "standard" of the western world .. and they need us to bring them up to that kinda level .. and thats happen to all other aspects in china .. thats y chinese like myself love to live and work here so to help out ..

If there are any doubt if there are instructors there who know how to ski. Check this out;

I personally more than impressed. To prove if they are able to teach is another issue. That might involves confidence in Chinese standardization in General. :)

I see :). Do you mean 'old school' is equal to outdated? If so, whether the techniques are outdated or just the teaching method?

Thanks, Jackwan, for your information. Haha...I do not have any plan to join ski camp in France. Your example seems applicable to all members. Perhaps we may use 'one' instead of 'you' in the coming examples, so other members can join our discussion.
Yes, I agree 'private lesson should be good for all levels' in a very high level discussion. In fact, I was told that kids sometimes slow progress in the one-to-one private lesson because they use to feel boring in learning skiing alone. Instead they always feel happy to play with other kids in a group lesson, with a better progress in return. So, I think one-to-one private lesson is one of possible solutions. We have to choose different teaching and learning methods under different situations.
Sorry if my post caused any bad feeling to readers here.
Absolutely not! I am very happy to watch the videos. :)

Thanks for your link. Do you have any videos about the instructor for demonstrating short turns in slalom race or on a steep icy mogul field? :)

dont see any steep icy mogul. sorry.
Here is a few:
這次(1/20-1/21/08)在 Squaw Valley滑雪正好碰到一場 local小朋友的比賽,順便拍了三段DV給大家分享。。。
這三個選手只是在前24名內的預賽入圍而已,第二天决賽中相信不會有名的。。。各位大師有何建言?小弟當然會轉告他們的教練嚕。。。。

http://ski.creforum.info/jack/P1050237.MOVNo doubt they are great mogul skiers. However I though I was asked to dig out in mainland China:
'instructor for demonstrating short turns in on a steep icy mogul '
I can't find one. Anyone got any related related video? If any, that would add lot more confidence to those interested in learning mogul skiing in China. After all I see that the benefit of learning in China is low cost, which is material to the less than rich skiing public. Or alternatively taking private instruction instead of group instruction at similar cost. :)
I will ask in Chinese forum for mogul video by instructor. If any, I will update.
in china they call mogul skiing 猫跳:p
how about this

Thanks Carver. You always help me a lot!:)
Maybe I overlooked I did not see the instructor (French), who teaches the beautiful girl in the videos of the first thread, in your link provided. It seems the instructors in your video are Chinese and Korean. Sure, I have no doubt about their techniques. That's why I asked "I don't know why the instructor is a westerner?" in my first thread in this post.
As mentioned by Jackwan, the ability of the instructor (French) is better in a slalom race or on a steep icy mogul field. So, I really want to see the differences and let our members to understand the real ability of the instructor (French). As I know, you have huge knowledge in this area so I made the request before. Anyway, thank you very much for your hard work!:):):)

eLeung - thx for your kind words. I think what made this thread interesting is the lady who can learn skiing in just 7 days. Now the problem becomes whether is it real or just a commercial. You know people can even fly in a commercial less to say just skiing.
As linked by jackwan it seems when there are mogul skiers in the competition there will be some great instructor too. Unless they all learn by themself. :)
