A magic carpet (also carpet lift) is a type of surface lift (like rope tows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rope_tow), T-bar lifts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-bar_lift) and platter lifts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platter_lift)) installed at ski areas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ski_area) to transport skiers and snowboarders up the hill. The name is inspired by the mythological magic carpets (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_carpet) featured in legends.

Yes, 龍平 is more suitable for the beginner who has no experience.
In high 1,most of the beginner slopes are at the mountain top:eek:. Even the magic carpet training track, you still have to ski down from the top quite a long distance to reach . I was there last year not sure any improvment this year.

Run!
Ski
the resort looks so small:(
I think High1 is more suitable for beginner, although you have to take the gondola to the very beginner slope at the middle mountain, there is less people compare with 龍平, you have both T-bar and magic carpet to bring you up which save lot of queueing time.
After having one day practice, if you feel comfortable, you can try the green run from the mountain top, the run is quite long therefore you can have plenty of time for your practice, but in 龍平, there is only two green runs and full of beginner. You can check the slope map from the 龍平 web site.
I'm still a beginner and hopefully can ski the blue runs this year, and also I wiil join the High 1 tour from KTX end of this year.
The above is my own experience, wellcome for any comment.
i remember my first time of snowboardin my life was a disaster....
Raining day, and i had no water proof snow jacket and pants, i was with a regular down jacket and jeans.....O_o, and without taking any beginner lesson my friends just brought me on the summit chair lift with them( after i figured out they thought i was not first time...) after 2 hours of boarding i was wet from inside out...~_~
ok back to the point... i think it's better for a beginner to start from a green trail rather than the carpet lift...(well i didn't do the beginner slope(bunny slope) on my first time neither...)
cos first, bunny slopes are always packed, specially with lot of kids that give u a lot of pressure of running them over. Second, due to the high amount of ppl, the snow on bunny slopes are always hard packed or icy, it's even harder for begineers to start with.
so in my opinion, if u don't really have to, just bring them up to the longest green trails( without flats, (cos flat section + beginner boarder = sucked) and let them learn
just like learning how to swim, u want the person get to a depth that they can't touch the bottom of the pool so they can learn:)
I was to High 1 twice.
There is a beginning slope connecting the Mountain Condo and the Valley Condo. However, there are quite many turns and the slope is quite narrow for beginner. But anyway my 2 small cousins (7 yrs old) could finish the slope without any single drop on ground.
There is also another beginner slope starts fm the Top of the Top (top of the mountain) and ends at the Valley Condo. This is a very long path and the path has many skiers.
