Hirafu Scot Hotel - ~ 26xxx yen per night
http://www.goodsports.co.jp/eng/bus/bus-cts.html#niseko
http://www.niseko.ne.jp/access.html#buss1
Thank you!!

Hi there,
1. No comment on your air fare, coz I always take CX departs in the morning. (I also have no choice but to take CX too, personal reason)
2. The Scott Hotel is very close to the gondola (if I remember correctly). Seems to be resonable location for that price. However, most of the restaurants is closer to the main street at Hirafu. Free shuttle is running throughout the day within the village so that should be ok.
3. In regarding the other shuttle bus from the airport to Hirafu. I think the cheapest company is Donon Bus. But the last bus leaving Chitose is 3:30pm so it really depends on your time of arrival into Chitose. All the bus companies have counters in the airport and they all departs like half an hour apart from each other. If you booked in advance then you are restricted to the flexibility of catching an earlier bus by other bus company should you arrive earlier. I personally never book the bus and just go for the earliest departure available.
4.( Please let me know if any agent can offer a discounted lift ticket as well). I think the price is the same every where you purchase your ticket. The only discount would be you pay for a mutiple ticket(for 2 or 3 days) at once when you purchase.
Hope this can help.

First of all thank you very much for your comments!
Actually CX is my preferred airline (to accumulate my asia airmiles / marco polo club sectors) but I wasn't able to reserve any seat on any dates that are even remotely close to 23rd. And this happens in the middle of the economic tsunami... go figure. :)
If I arrive between 5 - 6pm do you think I could still catch a bus to Niseko if I don't make a reservation in advance? Also, could you let me know how much the Donon bus ride is?
You probably have your own skis, right? But if you have any info on ski rental please share with us.
Thanks again!

Hi there,
The return bus fare for Donon Bus should be around Y3850 ( If I remember correctly) and all the other bus companies are around Y4200. However, as I mentioned before, the last bus leaving Chitose from Donon would be 3:30pm so it seems like it is not an option for you. As for you arriving at 5 - 6 pm. Your only choice would be the White Liner which departs at 7:30pm (Please confirm with the bus company for any changes), that means if you arrive at 6pm, you have to clear immigration really fast in order to catch the bus. (Please be reminded that Chitose is a really small airport, if you deplane late, you often have a long queue at immigration.) Otherwise, you have to wait for the night bus service which departs at 9:30pm by the While Liner and Hokkaido Resort Liner. (more expensive);)
As for skis rental, sorry that I can't help as I left them in Niseko permanently.

So far as I know, if no one book the white Liner, the last bus departing new chitose is 5:30 p.m (if your flight arrive at 5-6 p.m, it is most probably that you can't catch this bus). If you make the booking for the bus departing at 7:30 p.m, you can catch this bus if your flight arrive on time. For fear that there may be a delay for the flight landing time due to bad weather, it is more secure for you to make a remark in your booking that if you can't catch the 7:30 pm bus due to the delay in flight landing, you booking could be transferred to the last bus which will depart at 9:00 p.m (or 9:30pm), so that your booking will still be valid on the condition of any delay in your flight landing.
Please note that the bus comany will not accept your booking if you make the booking less than 7 days before your arrival. Therefore, you have to make the booking not less than 7 days before your arrival. Usually, the bus will still operate even there is only one person-booking.
Although 23.1.2009 is not the low season. It is advisable for you to make early booking to garantee that you can arrive at Niseko on 23.1.2009.
Please note that the price for one-way ticket is around 2300 to 2500 yan.
Have a wonderful ski holiday. :)

Thank you happy_mum and Polly. Your information is very helpful to me.
The only thing I need now is rental + lift ticket. If anyone has info on the typical prices and where we can get some savings on these items, we would appreciate it very much if you could let us know....
... less than a month to go, I am sure it will be a very nice experience (or happy_mum would not go there year after year, right? ;))
We just came back from Niseko last night and we booked our ski rental with Niseko Base Snowsports, you may check the rental at http://www.nisekobase.com/2.0/rentals.php
The ski and boots they rent out is Head and was brand new, and the rental service centre is just right in front of Family Ace #1. They offer 15 % discount to customer who pre-booked and paid before departure. We bought our ski pass together with our holiday package through skijapan.com and enjoy 15% discount too. But I don't know if they offer discount to individuals or not.
There are many ski rentals around Hirafu, I knew that Scot Hotel have their own rental (Niss Harmony?)even individual shops have ski rental service. You may try NBS or just try you luck when you get there.
Hope this can help.:)

不過我後來再睇張 invoice, 發現竟然寫住 'final day does not include night skiing'....
10% off.

The travel agency offered me this discount, but only after I purchased the plane ticket and hotel accomodation from them. I am not sure if it is available to everyone.
Anyway you may want to give it a try by calling Stella at Tonichi travel 3520 2644
Can someone please tell me where I can wax my snowboard before hitting the slope? I will be staying at Hilton Niseko Village, and this will be my first time experiencing the famous Hokkaido powder snow.

last time when i stayed at hirafu, there are a few shops along the village slope where they can wax your skis. usually i waxed mine in hkg and then bought a liquid wax there to wax the skis after skiing for 2 days.
there were plenty of snow and the peaks were closed during 2 days of my 6 day trip 2 a week ago.
Good snow?
Yeah~~
I am going on 8 Feb ... cant wait cant wait ...

This is my 3rd night here in Hirafu Niseko. Bitter cold these 2 days and you can't see very far most of the time up top when you at at the peak of Nikeso. But we still had some very good skiing action today! Went up Ace lift #4 today then skiied down to Hilton at Niseko village. We had dinner at Bang Bang tonight, food was excellent. Basically we are having a great time here at Hirafu Niseko. This place is good in many aspects... Powder snow, size, scenary, nightlife, you name it... Highly recommended. :)

A small question, Thank You.
If we take cathay and arrive New Chitose at 1510.
Which bus should I book?
Is it OK to book the bus at 1630? Or it is better just go there and find the earliest bus?
What should I do?
Thanks.

I have done that before. ;) In theory, yes - but it all depends on the punctuality of your flight and how fast you can retrieve your luggage.

Thanks Mike,
Or should I not book any bus and just choose the bus after I arrive?

As I said before, "all depends on the punctuality of your flight and how fast you can retrieve your luggage."
It is not difficult, as the bus counter selling tickets is inside the Arrival Terminal.

Thanks Snow Man, One day round trip for Niseko is really too short, I supposed.
Last year I had 5 days there but I still feel not enough....
The coming one, I will have almost double! :D:D:D
