Snowboarding with poles

Have any of you (snowboarders) tried using ski poles when snowboarding?

I've seen it before in Colorado, US. But I don't really see the point, unless you're constantly trapped on a flat surface. Naturally, a snowboarder's arms are positioned front to back, but in order to use the pole, you will have to twist your body to and push from the side, making it easier to go off balance... I might give this a try next time I go with a skier.
